Signs Your ES Windows Door Installation Is Failing

• The door sticks at the top corner in summer but swings free in January. This is aluminum thermal expansion, not hinge failure. DIY or Call Us?

There is one thing you can safely check: open the door 90 degrees, grip the handle, and lift upward. If there’s vertical play exceeding 1/16 inch, the hinge screws are loose or the reinforcement channel has failed. Tightening the screws with a Phillips #3 is fine; if they spin freely, the channel is stripped and the door needs to come off.

Everything else, we recommend against. The multi-point lock stores energy in its spring cassette; if you remove the faceplate without supporting the locking points, the rods can snap outward with enough force to dent the jamb or worse.
